what you'll need: RC4 CodeLoader 3.x + RC4 CodeLoader cable. RC4 Commander 3.x must also be installed and configured with your RC4 Private IDentity (.idq) file before CodeLoading RC4Magic devices.
1Install RC4 Commander 3.5.0 (Mac or PC) from https://rc4wireless.com/download/ and request your RC4 Private IDentity (.idq) file from RC4 via https://rc4.freshdesk.com/support/tickets/new if you don't have one
2Load your .idq file into RC4 Commander so it learns your system IDs
3Download RC4 CodeLoader 3.3.3 for Mac or PC from https://rc4wireless.com/download/
4Download firmware zip 'AUTO_RF_RC4Magic_RC5EASS_Aug2025' from https://rc4wireless.com/download/
5Connect the RC4 CodeLoader cable to a USB port on your computer
6Connect the 3.5mm end of the CodeLoader cable to the small receptacle on the RC4Magic device
7Open RC4 CodeLoader, select the correct COM port, select device type, and load your .idq file when prompted
8If prompted for a 'blanking' step: hold Func button while applying power, press 'Begin Blanking', wait for success
9Hold Func button while applying power to the device, green COP LED illuminates solid (CodeLoader mode). You have 5 seconds to begin.
10Press 'Transmit Data' in CodeLoader. Progress bar crawls left to right. Device restarts automatically when complete.
11Restore factory defaults: with device powered on, hold Func button and tap Set A button. Three LEDs blink simultaneously to confirm.
12Reconfigure device and re-verify system IDs with RC4 Commander
GotchaRC4 Commander 3.x MUST be installed and must have your .idq file before CodeLoading, if IDs are lost during flash, they can only be restored if Commander already has them
WarningAUTO_RF firmware covers RC4Magic, RC4Magic-900, AND RC5 EASS, same zip, hardware auto-detected. Do NOT use the old SX-2016 legacy zip (102-2-1) unless working with legacy-only devices
