Adds CRMX self-upgrade to CRMX2; also upgrades LumenRadio CRMX chip to CRMX2 in DASH w/CRMX units.
steps
what you'll need: USB-C to PC (Windows 10+) using Flash Download Tool. Bluetooth update is NOT supported for DASH, USB-C only.
1Download V1.0.16 DASH.zip from https://us.rosco.com/sites/default/files/content/resource/2024-10/V1.0.16%20DASH.zip and extract it.
2Locate CP210x_Universal_Windows_Driver.zip inside the extracted folder, extract it, and double-click the CP210xVCPInstaller_x64.exe (use x86 if x64 fails) to install the USB driver. Click through to 'Ready To Use'.
3Connect the DMG DASH to the PC via the USB-C charging cable and power the unit ON.
4Open Device Manager on the PC, expand 'Ports (COM & LPT)', note the COM Number for 'Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge'.
5Find your Batch Number on the fixture: it is listed as B:XX next to the Serial Number in the Settings menu. If no Batch Number is shown, treat it as Batch 1.
6Double-click flash_download_tool_3.8.5.exe inside the extracted ZIP. Click 'Developer Mode', then 'ESP32 DownloadTool'.
7In the tool: ensure partition-table.bin, ota_data_initial.bin, and bootloader.bin are all checked. Select the Dash_1-0-16-B[X].bin file matching your Batch Number; uncheck any other dash-firmware files.
8Set the COM: dropdown to the COM Number from Step 4. Click START. The progress bar will turn green and display FINISH when done (takes only seconds).
9Reset the motherboard: double-click DASH_WAKEUP.exe, select the same COM Number, click WakeUP. The CRMX upgrade launches automatically, wait until the charging symbol appears on the DASH display.
10Power the DASH back on. Confirm in Settings that v:1.0.16 is displayed.
GotchaEach production batch (B1, B3, B4, B5, B6) requires its own firmware .bin file, match Batch Number exactly.
GotchaBatch 2 is absent from the firmware package; if the fixture has no Batch Number shown, use B1.
GotchaDASH_WAKEUP.exe may trigger Microsoft Defender SmartScreen, click 'More Info' then 'Run anyway'.
