what you'll need: Three options: (a) USB FAT32 drive, (b) inbuilt web browser over Ethernet [v3.0+], (c) DMX chaining
1USB method: download the latest CreamOS .sfb from knowledge.creamsource.com; format a USB drive as FAT32; copy ONLY ONE .sfb file onto it.
2Insert the USB drive into the Vortex USB connector. Install takes 1-2 minutes; a success message appears. Safely remove the drive.
3Web-browser method (v3.0+): connect the Vortex to a local network via Ethernet; type the IP address shown on the Vortex display into a web browser.
4Scroll to 'Update CreamOS', click Update, select the .sfb file; the unit updates and restarts. Supports batch-updating multiple fixtures from one browser session.
GotchaOnly ONE .sfb file on the USB drive at a time; drive must be FAT32 (Creamsource recommends EMTEC, Kingston, or Toshiba).
GotchaWeb-browser update requires the fixture to already be on v3.0 or later.
GotchaV3.1.0 release notes flag important reliability updates specifically for Vortex24 (Vesa has Vortex 8/4, so lower urgency, but still recommended).
GotchaThe fixture's front LED panel shows a color legend indicating update progress.
